Gain international experience

Academic exchanges | Master of Public Policy and Master of International Affairs

Tokyo. Geneva. Singapore. Toronto. Beijing. Or Cairo.

The Hertie School offers its master's candidates more than just a degree. Students can gain experience at partner institutions around the world during a semester-long academic exchange.

Students apply for one of the academic exchange places after their first semester.  They then attend the partner university during their third semester.

Master of Public Policy (MPP)

Master of International Affairs (MIA)

Additional exchange partnerships for the MIA are currently being established.

Executive MPA exchange programmes

The Hertie School has established course-based exchange programmes with the following universities:

Copenhagen Business School (CBS)

A cooperation agreement with Copenhagen Business School (CBS) allows Executive MPA students to visit courses of the Master of Public Governance (MPG) programme in Denmark and vice versa. The MPG degree is an accredited executive master degree programme at CBS which is jointly run by CBS and the University of Copenhagen.

ESCP Europe

In order to enhance exchange between professionals of all sectors, a cooperation agreement was signed between the more public oriented Hertie School and the more business oriented  ESCP Europe. Executive MPA students can visit business and leadership courses of the European Executive MBA programme – which was ranked #12 in the Financial Times' 2016 Executive MBA ranking – on all ESCP Europe's campuses (Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid and Turin), and ESCP Europe students can visit governance and public management courses of the Executive MPA programme.

University of Bern (UniBe)

UniBe is a comprehensive Swiss university with a full range of Bachelor, Master and PhD degree programmes, also offering Executive programmes to students in various fields of study. The Center of Competence for Public Management (CCPM)  at UniBe provides Master as well as Certificate of Advanced Studies in Public Administration as core products. The Hertie School concluded a cooperation agreement with the University of Bern in 2011, making this the newest exchange programme within the Executive MPA.
