Congratulations to Anselm Eicke: "Best Paper Award" by IEWT 2021

Anselm Eicke, Research Associate and PhD Candidate at the Centre for Sustainability, won the "Best Paper Award" for young scholars at IEWT 2021, held annualy by the Technical University of Vienna.

His paper entitled "Cost-optimal placement of generation in a zonal electricity market: A bilevel model of location-specific network charges and generation investment" looks at how to determine the welfare maximizing distribution of generation capacity in a zonal market and how to determine the locational signal that leads to this distribution. Setting up analytical and numerical examples, the author comes to conclusions on novel modelling approach for estimating the long-run effect of locational signals in zonal power markets.

The International Energy Economy Meeting (Internationale Energiewirtschaftstagung - IEWT) takes place annualy and is hosted by the Technical University of Vienna. The "Best Paper Award" goes to young authors born in 1991 or later who demonstrate academic excellence in researching energy policy and its meaning for the future of economy and society.
