Centre for Sustainability

Teaching

Faculty and researchers at the Centre for Sustainability offer a broad range of classes, introducing Hertie students to climate, energy, and sustainability topics as well as quantitative and qualitative methods.

Enabling students’ practice engagement is an important element in our education:

  • Together with Sciences Po, Columbia SIPA and LKY Singapore, we offer 1st and 2nd year MPP and MIA students the possibility to participate in the Global Public Policy Network (GPPN) SDG Certificate Project class. Students apply as teams with an SDG-related project idea to be developed during that class (full integration in curriculum). Learn more about the SDG Certificate
  • We facilitate Professional Years, student jobs, internships and Master Thesis practice partner cooperation by connecting students with the vibrant climate, energy and sustainability community in Berlin and beyond. Potential internship providers and employees include government institutions, think tanks, NGOs, consultancies as well as industry sector.
  • We convene the annual “Hertie Energy & Climate Networking Event”, inviting Hertie graduates working for leading actors in the climate, energy, and sustainability scene in Germany and Europe to connect with Hertie students and elaborate on possible career paths in the energy and climate field.
