Many citizens say they want to make sacrifices to protect the environment. Politicians are proposing environment policies from saving emissions to saving the bees. Companies are banking on new green business models. On 20 September, the German government’s Climate Cabinet will decide on a catalogue of measures to protect the environment. But does all this activity belie the need for more far-reaching decisions? Join us for a discussion with Berlin’s rbb radio host Harald Asel on whether liberal, representative democracy is up to the task of tackling these problems– and how we can support this. The discussion panelists include Christian Flachsland, Professor of Sustainability at the Hertie School, Bernd Ulrich, deputy editor-in-chief at Die Zeit and Tanja Wielgroß, managing director at Vattenfall Wärme Berlin AG.
