The Jacques Delors Institut – Berlin is a joint project by the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin and Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute in Paris. It was established in early 2014 as a research-based Think Tank with the objective to contribute to a better policy debate on Europe in Germany. It is directed by Henrik Enderlein, who is Professor of Political Economy at the Hertie School of Governance. The Institute is currently building up a staff of around 5-10.
It will primarily focus on four core areas of European integration:
- Economic and Monetary Union
- Institutional aspects and political integration
- European energy policy (with a particular focus on the German “Energiewende”)
- Labour markets and social policy
The core budget of the Institute comes from the two mother institutions with further financing from project work and donations. The Institute is located in the Allianz Forum on Pariser Platz in Berlin, where it hosts policy debates and events.
