Workshop in London

This workshop analyses and critically reflects upon current public management developments and experiences in UK government.

15-18 May 2017

Restructuring and reform in the public sectorhave been persistent themes in the history of UK government, with many international public management trends and concepts having their origin in the UK. The main focus of this workshop is to understand the context and current developments of UK government better, such as fiscal retrenchment and efforts towards better policymaking and achieving impact. Analysing good practices and critically reflecting on the applicability of UK experiences to other government contexts will also be in focus.

The workshop is held in cooperation with the renowned Institute for Government, an independent charity think tank working to increase government effectiveness, and will offer in-depth insights into the work of Whitehall through visits to various ministries and agencies, as well as a joint session with the Policy Institute at King’s College.

This course can also be completed as part of the Certificate in Leadership and Management, the Certificate in Public Financial Management and Methods, or the Certificate in Public Sector Innovation.
