The Hertie School of Governance offers a range of scholarships aimed at assisting students with funding their studies. Scholarships are awarded in the form of tuition waivers ranging from 8,125 EUR to 32,500 EUR (25% to 100% of tuition fees). About 50% of current Hertie School students receive scholarships.
Scholarships are granted for the entire period of study (two years) and are allocated on a rolling basis up until the final deadline (May 1). We do however recommend that students dependent on financial assistance apply by our priority deadline (February 1).
In order to apply for a scholarship, applicants need to choose “yes” as the answer to the question “Are you applying for a Hertie School sponsored stipend?” on our online application form and fill out the financial information section. The information you provide will be used to confirm your financial need.
If an applicant receives an offer of admission and successfully demonstrated financial need, they will be considered for a scholarship on the basis of the quality of their application and their suitability for the study programme of their choice. The admission committee considers the following criteria when distributing scholarships:
Scholarship decisions will be communicated to applicants shortly after the admission offer (4 weeks).
On top of our regular scholarship scheme we additionally offer a number of special scholarships, such as the Hertie School Fellowship or the Future of Europe Scholarship. To apply for these scholarships, please check eligibility criteria and differing deadlines on the left and make sure to mention your interest in these special scholarships on the online application form.
We also recommend to consider external funding options early on. Our student affairs team is happy to assist prospective students in this. General information on external funding sources, such as the Hertie School Education Funds, is available here.
