Simon Wanka holds a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated European Studies from the University of Bremen and also studied in Kiel and Moscow. At the Hertie School, he specialised in development and labour policies. He gained professional experience by working at the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in Berlin, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Kyiv and in Lviv at an implementing partner of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. His core academic interests lie in Eastern Europe and Eurasia, accompanied by work and voluntary experience in the region. He conducted research at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center on national innovation systems in the field of industrial artificial intelligence. Simon is particularly interested in opportunities in public administration, political foundations or foreign service.
