MPP, MIA and PhD graduation 2019

On Friday, 7 June we will celebrate the success of the Class of 2019 at the Graduation Ceremony. Students from the Master of Public Policy and Master of International Affairs Programmes, as well as those from the Doctoral Programme in Governance, will receive their diplomas.

We are pleased to announce that the graduation ceremony will take place at Konzerthaus Berlin (Großer Saal) on 7 June 2019, 3:30 - 5:00 pm. Join us afterwards for a reception at the Hertie School.

We are honoured to welcome Pascal Lamy, President of the Paris Peace Forum, former Director General of the World Trade Organization and former European Commissioner, as the commencement speaker. Hertie School President Henrik Enderlein, Dean of Graduate Programmes and Professor of European Politics Christine Reh, Professor of Sociology and PhD Director Michaela Kreyenfeld and  elected students will also speak.

Commencement Speaker

Pascal Lamy is former Director General of the World Trade Organization (2005–2013), President of the Paris Peace Forum and President Emeritus of the Jacques Delors Institute Paris. He holds an MBA from HEC Paris, and also studied at Sciences Po and ENA. He began his career as a civil servant in the French Inspection générale des finances and in the Treasury. He subsequently became an advisor to the Finance Minister Jacques Delors, and then to Prime Minister Pierre Mauroy. From 1984 to 1994, he was Head of Cabinet to the President of the European Commission, Jacques Delors, and his G7 Sherpa. In November 1994, he joined the team responsible for the rescue of Credit Lyonnais, and later became CEO of the bank. From 1999 to 2004, Pascal Lamy was EU Trade Commissioner.
