Hertie School students organise migration and integration conference

The “Bridging Gaps Conference” was hosted by students from the Hertie School and the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy.

On November 13-14 over 60 international students participated in Erfurt to attend the Bridging Gaps Conference 2015 on Migration and Integration in Germany. The conference was organized by six students from the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy and the Hertie School.

Over the course of two days students discussed migration to Germany and the key challenge of integration into the local labour market. Also of topical relevance, student looked at Germany’s recent step of accepting large numbers of refugees within the framework of the EU that lacks a common migratory policy. The conference provided a platform to discuss the current migration challenge, the bureaucratic system’s burden faced by many migrants and possible policy solutions.

The organizing students aim to establish the Bridging Gaps Conference as an annual event designed to provide students with both theoretical and practical knowledge on current topics, as well as to offer networking opportunities.
