Lin Gao is a PhD candidate under the supervision of Prof. Johanna Mair. Her research studies the interactions between institutions and social innovation in emerging markets, and the role social entrepreneurship could play in addressing deeply-rooted social issues. Before starting her PhD at Hertie, she gathered insights on international development from her work at the International Food Policy Research Institute, a think-tank in Washington DC. She is a board member of SEED for Social Innovation, a pioneering innovation network in China. Lin holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington, and a BA in Chinese Language and Literature from Beijing Normal University.
