29 - 30 April 2024 | Skills training
In modern democracies, political communication constitutes a key resource and necessity for political institutions, the private sector and civil society. What matters, however, is not only what but how one communicates. Combining strategic reflection with practical experience and training, this course enables students to understand and handle the interplay/interdependencies between media, politics and citizenry. It introduces key concepts such as the role of the public sphere in modern democracies, as well as trends and practical skills in a highly interactive and reflective mode. The focus is on principles and tools, i.e. campaigning, framing, crisis communication, etc., which are taught in the context of concrete examples and case studies. At the end, students will be equipped with a range of practical tools, which will also enable them to prepare for media appearances or public speaking more effectively.
